First day of VBS! !

Praise God! We made it through our first trial run errr uh . . day at Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones! Last night we all stayed up until nearly 1 in the morning setting up our puppet stage to see exactly how it was done and then going over what needed to be done for today. Some how ( well of course we know how! By the strength of God.) we had to get up this morning at 6:15 so we could make it to our first stop of the day at 7a. Kimberly, Edwin, and the rest of Team Honduras all piled into the family suv with all our necessary supplies to do a small puppet show, sing some worship songs, do a short presentation of the Gospel, invite the children to VBS, then pass out candy to all the very obedient and so well behaved Honduran children. The kids here really like our puppet shows and all do very well learning our worship songs. We then came back to MEDA after our short visit to the first school of the day. A quick breakfast and off to the next school! This second school was in a small village called Secorro about a 15 minute drive from MEDA. This school was in a little bit poorer area and the children here where much more "energetic" but also very captivated by our little presentation. The church where we are holding VBS is called La Isla de Socorro de lo Alto which is just down the road from this last school we visited. After the invite, back to MEDA for quick lunch and back again to the church in Socorro to set up for VBS. VBS starts at 2p and runs until 4:30, though keep in mind we are in a Latin American country so 2p really means 2-2:30 and 4:30 means 5p. By the grace of God our first day was soooo much fun and went really well, we had a turn out of nearly 200 children!(Praise God since we were expecting around 60!) We sang songs, Wade told a story about the lesson of the day (Zacchaeus) then we broke off into groups for other activities like crafts, games, and a memory verse. Afterwards we had a puppet show and dismissed the children. Ravenous we came back to MEDA and had a meeting about the day, discussing improvements and giving praises to God about the day. Right now, Seth, Amber and Wade are all writing one more puppet show while the Montoya family are in their dinning room playing a hilariously fun card game called Dutch Blitz.

It is such a joyful blessing to be here in the hospitality of the Montoya's sharing laughter and love with one another. Each day, in many ways and at several times we are fed! Fed by Lori and fed by the Lord with his word. Its such a wonderful feeling, while at the schools and VBS to have the children come up to us, pull on our hands, jump up and down, giving us hugs and what not. To just feel God's love in this way completely erases any fatigue we might have felt. Nearly time for bed now and we are all looking forward to another day of telling the children about God's tremendous love. A few prayer request are below. Thank you all again for reading and praying.

In his love
Andruw M.

Praise:
Bryanna has formed several friendships with some of the girls at VBS

Requests for prayer:
Seth could use Strength and authority in leading the children in his games durning VBS (apparently any game involving a ball automatically tuns in to Futbol (aka soccer).

Due to our hectic schedule this week we ask that you pray for us to be maintaining a daily fellowship with the Lord.

  3. Anonymous: Thanks so much for your prayers! They've been very much felt as God has been working through our efforts!

Terry: I know, right? Each of our puppet shows presents aspects of the gospel. One of them presents the full gospel. That's the one we've brought to the public school. Since we've visited about 5 public schools in the last 3 days, probably about 500 kids have gotten to hear the gospel already!
