The MEDA compound is fairly large, perhaps sitting on about 3-4 acres, it also has its own futbol (soccer) field which is nearly an acre and that sits off to the side. its very lovely here and the birds all have very unique and different songs than their American cousins. in fact there is one that seemed to particularly bug Seth at night and early morning. I on the other hand enjoy her song, I picture this very silly looking bird who's eyes are swirling around in opposite directions. Anyway, there are 5 main buildings, the largest is an L shaped building which contains the dorm rooms for anyone who comes to conferences, or like us boys who stayed in one room the first week. Each room holds up to 5 and there are 25 rooms. Then there is the conference room itself, it sits in line with the dorm rooms and is near the front of the compound. It looks like a large hall and is very beautiful inside. Then near the front in just about the center of MEDA is the offices. This is where Carlos Montoya and Adrian Donato's offices are. Off to the other side of MEDA are the homes of three of the Families that work for MEDA. These are the last two main buildings i had mentioned. The first house is actually a duplex where the Montoya family and the Patterson family live. The backyard to the duplex faces the futbol field.
The Montoya family consists of Carlos and his wife Lori, their oldest is Kimberly who is married to Edwin (aka Chino) then Jonathan, Jeremy, Marcy, Leslie, Sara, and Abigail (Abi who is 4). They have been really taking care of all of us exceptionally well and the children, especially the girls, have all been loving on us lots and lots. This is the family that Bryanna and Amber are staying with. Marcy convinced her dad to get her a puppy, which is this beautiful all white husky named Max, he came to live with the Montoyas about a week ago.
The Patterson family consists of Mark and his wife Kristy and their children Josiah, Caleb, Noah, Levi, Isaiah, Elijah and a super cute, fun and rugged little girl Iris who they are adopting. Josiah is leaving Honduras a couple days after the team to come study at Grace school of Theology and Ministry. It has been awesome to be getting to know him and that he will know a few people when he comes to live in Pleasant Hill. Also! He speaks spanish!
The Nunez family lives in the last building mentioned which is a house just a few yards away from the duplex. They are a family native to Honduras and we haven't really gotten to meet them really yet. They are Carlos who takes care of the promotion aspects of MEDA like spreading the word about conferences, his wife Eda, Daughters Anali and Damarice, their son Edwardo as well as a boy they are adopting named Elvin.
Then just a small walk up a hill outside the MEDA compound to the Donato Family residence. There is Adrian and his wife Stephanie with their children Caleb, Nathanial, Bethany, Charity, Andrew, Mark, and Luke. Adrian is the dean of the seminary.
Ok i think that is about it kinda concerning the families, now on to the weather and terrain. Nah just kidding you will all have to wait to see the pictures!
By for now!
